The 2017 Tour de Termes is exuberant and bold, but also very easy to enjoy. A rush of super-inky jammy fruit, licorice, spice, mint and vanillin adds to the wine's exotic, flamboyant personality. This is an especially ripe, oaky style and even so, there is a level of purity to the fruit that makes me think Tour de Termes could be a seriously better and more pedigreed wine. There is plenty of potential, but it will require a lighter hand to uncover. This Cru Bourgeois is very good, but it could be so much more than that.
This red shows concentration and grace, offering spice-laced cherry and red plum notes infused with anise, espresso and graphite elements. Refined, plush tannins give a nice feel throughout. Drink now through 2028.
