At Broadway Spirits, we pride ourselves on spotlighting new spirits that combine craft, character, and story. One of our latest favorites? Renais Gin—a refined, French grape-based gin created by Alex Watson, the visionary behind the brand. Distilled in England but deeply inspired by his family’s winemaking heritage in Burgundy, this is not your average gin.
What Makes Renais Gin Stand Out
Renais is the brainchild of Alex Watson, who grew up surrounded by vineyards and vintage in Chablis, France. Determined to create a spirit that honored that legacy, Alex sourced ingredients directly from his family’s wine estate—resulting in a gin that blends tradition, sustainability, and modern luxury.
His sister, Emma Watson, is also involved, but Renais is primarily Alex’s project, born from his deep appreciation for terroir, flavor, and French winemaking techniques.
Renais Gin is:
- Distilled from upcycled French wine grapes, giving it a round, almost silky mouthfeel.
- Infused with Kimmeridgian stone and other Burgundian botanicals that add minerality and elegance.
- Packaged in a beautiful amber bottle with a gold cap that doubles as an ice stamper—perfect for elevating your cocktail presentation.
Tasting Notes & Style
Expect a subtle floral aroma, a citrus-forward palate, and just enough juniper to feel classic without overpowering the experience. It’s complex, but smooth—almost like sipping a dry white Burgundy with a botanical twist.
Whether you’re a gin lover or someone who finds traditional gin too harsh, Renais Gin is approachable and incredibly versatile.
Try It in a Martini
There’s no better way to enjoy Renais than in a clean, simple martini:
Renais Gin Martini Recipe
- 2.5 oz Renais Gin
- 0.5 oz dry vermouth
- Garnish: Lemon twist or frozen grape
Directions:
Stir with ice, strain into a chilled martini glass, and garnish. For extra flair, stamp your ice cube using the Renais gold cap before pouring.
The Broadway Spirits Take
During our recent staff training, we tasted Renais with a side of tacos from Tacombi—and it was an instant hit. It’s rare to find a gin this refined, yet so drinkable. Whether you’re hosting a dinner party or building your cocktail bar, this is the bottle we recommend.
And yes—we offer engraving for Renais Gin bottles in-store. Pair it with a stamped cube for a personalized, elevated gift.
