I recently had the privilege of attending the launch party for Olujo Tequila at Zero Bond — and it was an evening that fully embodied what the brand is striving to be: high-craft, refined, aspirational, and deeply rooted in luxury.
Here’s what makes Olujo stand out, and why this bottle will be more than a tequila—it’s a centerpiece.
Founders & Vision
- Olujo was created by Larsa Pippen, Adam Weitsman, and Oliver Camilo.
- From what I saw and what I’ve researched, they’re aiming for something rare—not just something flashy. Olujo is a tequila for people who care about every detail: the way it tastes, the way it looks, the way it feels.
What the Tequila Is Like
- It’s a single expression for now: an Añejo.
- Made from 100% Blue Weber Agave grown in the Los Altos region of Jalisco, Mexico.
- The cooking is done in stainless steel autoclaves, fermentation in steel tanks, then double-distilled in copper pot stills.
- Aging: about 18 months in American oak barrels.
- Bottled at 40% ABV, giving a refined, smooth profile—not raw, not overly smoky—balanced with flavor and texture.
Design, Bottle & Price
- The bottle itself is a work of art: a ceramic decanter crafted by Anfora (a long-standing ceramic house in Hidalgo, Mexico) and sculpted by artist Ivan Venkov. Its design is described as a “sculptural artifact” by the founders.
- At Broadway Spirits, we’re proud to carry Olujo Añejo right now for $499.
- This ultra-premium release is positioned not just as a tequila, but as a collector’s item—a bottle you’ll want to display long after it’s empty.
My Take from the Launch
- The venue, Zero Bond, was an ideal backdrop: elegant, chic, and full of energy.
- There were many familiar faces: celebrities, spirits industry people, influencers. It felt like a true launch moment, where atmosphere, luxury, and storytelling aligned.
- What I appreciated most is that Olujo didn’t just show up—it presented itself with confidence. It was clear this is not about chasing trends, but crafting something durable and desirable.
Why It Matters
- In a market flooded with tequila brands, Olujo offers stillness and refinement. It’s for the person who wants their tequila to be displayed as art, to be savored, to be more than a shot.
- It also builds prestige for stores like Broadway Spirits: carrying a brand that’s pushing boundaries allows customers to discover something exceptional.
